Another Point On The Road

Eaton went into the game anticipating a tough encounter with a reasonably experienced and strong Dunsborough side.

Coach Shilcof decided to play a 4 – 5 – 1 formation to try and win the midfield battle. This meant skipper Jumeaux was pushed into midfield alongside McMillan with Moise Sylla playing behind loan striker Spurling.  Portman was moved to left back with Johnston coming in alongside Deane at centre back.

Kieran Quinn made his debut for Eaton coming in on the right wing.  Scantlebury and Willetts kept their spots after impressing against Margaret River.

It was a very competitive game with both teams going hard at the ball and playing some impressive football.  Eaton were looking resilient at the back until a momentary lapse of concentration let a Dunsborough striker through unmarked to finish with ease past Oakey in goal.

Eaton didn’t let their heads drop and continued playing good football.  They were rewarded half way through the first half when Sylla Moise found space on the left after some good work from Scantlebury.  Moise squared the ball for Spurling who rounded his marker and finished comfortably past the keeper.

Half Time: Dunsborough 1 – 1 Eaton

Both teams started the second half as they started the first, with high intensity.  Quinn was impressing on debut dazzling the Dunsborough defence with his trickery.  Chances were few and far between in the 2nd half for Eaton, the only one of note was when substitute Bourne struck the frame of the goal from a nicely driven free kick from 25 yards out.

Eaton were beginning to lose their grip on the game as Dunsborough piled on the pressure more than twice hitting the woodwork which obviously frustrated the home team as there was handbags at 5 yards towards the latter stages of the match.

The back four of Eaton were solid for the majority of the 90 minutes and with the help of Jumeaux and McMillan who controlled the midfield battle Eaton held on for a well earned point.
