Eaton went into the Reserves match not knowing how strong the Dunsborough reserves outfit was. The line up had a few small changes, Hill was dropped to Reserves to partner Hiro up front, Gates and Strange occupied the wings with A.Butler and Johnson in the centre of midfield, with the back line consisting of Hassan,M.Butler, Nieuwpoort and Myles. Batten was between the sticks.
Almost immedietly Eaton fell behind, Strange slipped up, losing the ball in a dangerous area, and the Dunsborough player's optimistic shot flew over Batten's flailing arms.
After play resumed, Eaton got a slight stranglehold on the game, although it went to nothing as another defensive mix up was to hand Dunsborough a second goal.
Eaton had to pick up their act, and they did, from a Batten goal kick, Johnson headed to Hill, who was able to flick the ball to the oncoming steam train Strange who's lobbed effort was to hit the back of the net, somewhat atoning for his earlier mistake.
Eaton were now beginning to look like a footballing side. A.Butler and Johnson were winning every arial battle, and Hill and Gates were looking more menacing.
Midway throught the half, Johnson tried to play Hill through but did'nt succeed, however, due to the Dunsborough defender's poor touch, Gates was able to pick up the ball from 25 yards, take two touches and drive a powerful shot into the roof of the net. It was a goal worthy of tieing the match.
Half time score Eaton 2-2 Dunsborough
The second half lacked bite, and their wasnt too much action to report in a dull half of football.
However Eaton were able to gain another important point away from home against a potentially dangerous Dunsborough side.
